Things To Do

Things To Do

Enjoy the relaxed & unhurried Tongan pace in Vava'u and experience the friendly Polynesian way where culture and tradition play an integral role in daily life.

Snorkelling & Scuba Diving

Snorkelling, diving and sea kayaking are all on the menu. In Vava'u, normal visibility is between 30 and 40 metres and temperatures range from 23-24 degrees in the winter to 28 degrees in the summer. There's coral reefs, massive sea pinnacles, winding swim-throughs, vast underwater caves, volcanic tunnels, reaching overhangs, mysterious shipwrecks AND MORE.

Fishing

If you like game fishing, the local experts say that you have a better chance of tagging or catching the mighty Blue Marlin in these waters than anywhere in else in the world.

Boat Tours

Port Wine is now providing guided island tours! We offer tours around the archipelago of Vava'u; exploring remote islands, hidden beaches and surreal underwater caves. If fishing is your passion, we cater for those wanting to get out on the water and try their luck at landing the mighty Blue Marlin. Kayaks are also available for use; if you'd prefer to explore at your own pace. Our guided boat tours are priced at $140 TOP per person, or $60 TOP per child under 12, and include lunch.

If you'd like to experience a night  camping on a remote island, simply ask us and we will be more than happy to accommodate your needs.

Around Neiafu

For a day on land, just stroll through Neiafu and stop and have a drink, lunch or even dinner at one of the great cafes or restaurants over looking the Port of Refuge.

Whale Encounters

Magnificent humpback whales migrate from Antarctica to Tonga every year in June to give birth and mate and stay until November.  Tonga is one of the few places in the world where you are allowed to be in the water with humpback whales. To responsibly swim with a 45 ton whale in its natural environment is a great privilege.
